Costume Parade & Unicef Collection

There will be a costume parade in the gymnasium after lunch on Monday, October 31st.  The school will also be collecting loose change for Unicef at that time.

Halloween Dance

There is a Halloween dance on October 26, 2011 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. There will be ice-cream for sale (first come first serve). It will be a frightfully good time!

Scholastic Book Fair

The Scholastic Book Fair runs Monday Oct.24th to Wednesday Oct.26th from 9am-12pm and 1-3:30pm daily. The Fair is open to all students, staff and families.
A special parent's night will be offered Tuesday Oct.25th from 6-8pm.

Coupon Book Fundraiser

Oct. 14th marks the end of our Coupon Book Fundraiser.  Please return all monies and orders into the office as soon as possible.   If you require more time you can send everything in on Monday, October 17th.  The movie cards will be handed out and the Cash Cube will be here after all of the books have been returned and everything has been tallied.  Thank you so much for making this such a successful fundraiser.

Tips on Using the Book to its Fullest!

1. Keep your book in your car for easy access at all times.

2. Cut out all of your favourite coupons ahead of time and keep them in your wallet at hands reach.

3. Think of your book when purchasing gifts or doing the daily activities that you do.

Mabel's Labels Fundraiser

Personalized labels

Interested families go on line, order what they want, pay on line and its delivered to their home. The PTG will collect 20% of the sale.

Families are encouraged to purchase & use these labels to help decrease the amount of clothing in the lost & found.

PTG Halloween Dance

There will be a Family Halloween Dance on Oct 26^th from 6:30 -8pm

Entertainment Books

On Monday, the PTG had the official  kick off to our fall fundraiser,  the neighborhood coupon book. Each student received an Entertainment™ bag. The bag should contain:

Terry Fox Walk

Friday September 23rd will be out school's Walk for the Terry Fox Foundation. We will be doing a silver collection and any funds raised will be donated on behalf of Grosvenor Wentworth to support cancer research. The 4-6's will walk to the Heart Shaped Pond and the P-3's will walk in our school field. Our walk will take place from 10:10-10:40am.

Bus Schedule

The new bus schedule went home today with bus students. It will take effect on Friday.

Bus Schedule

We still haven't received the updated bus schedule from Stock Transportation. We'll let the community know when we get it and when the new schedule will take effect.

CBC News Tonight

The crane presentation, which took place today, will be aired tonight on CBC shortly after 6:00pm.

Anti-bullying Video- Cool To Be Kind

On Anti-bullying day, the students dressed in pink and formed the letters for "PEACE" on the soccer field.  Mr. Boudreau led the school in a song "Cool To Be Kind".

Bus Schedule Change

As we begin a new year with new routes and students we are experiencing excessive wait times for both 2:45 dismissal bus and 3:15 buses. Stock Transportation has been contacted and has planned to changed the schedule. The new bus schedule will take effect on Tuesday, September 13th. Students will receive a notice on Monday with the new times.
Thank you for your continued patience as our bus service provider implements these changes.

Attention-Error in School Notice

There were two errors in a school notice that went home the first day of school: 

Stand up for Bullying is Thursday, September 8th not 9th.

Curriculum night is Thursday, September 22nd not 23rd.

Cool to be Kind

September 8th is Stand up to bullying day. Wear pink and your coolest sunglasses because it is Cool to be Kind!

Meet & Greet Ice Cream Social

This event is a fun way for our school community to meet & mingle so come join us on Thursday September 8^th 6:00 – 7:30pm.

7th Annual Dakin Movie Night

The film "Rio" will be presented at the 7th Annual Dakin Movie Night held on September 10th. The movie will begin at 7:30pm and end around 9:30pm.  Click this link for more information.

School Supplies

Fees for school supplies can be paid on August 25^th or Sept 6^th, the first day of school. All supplies are covered. If anyone wishes a list to purchase their own supplies, one will be available at the school Aug 25^th.

Class Lists

Due to the privacy act, class lists are not permitted to be

published on the school doors. On the first day of school,

teachers will stand beside a chair with their grade level. They will

have the class lists and instruct guardians/students where to line

up.
